Social Media Policy

As a psychologist registered with AHPRA, certain rules and ethical obligations must be met when interacting on the internet. This information will outline Ms Marriner’s social media policy and how you may expect her to respond to any interactions with you on the internet, especially if you are, or have received therapy sessions from Ms Marriner.
Friending and Following
Ms Marriner does not accept friend or contact requests from current or former clients on any personal social networking site under her personal accounts (Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram etc). She believes that adding clients as friends or contacts on these sites can compromise your confidentiality and your respective privacy. It may also blur the boundaries of the therapeutic relationship. If you have questions about this, please bring them up with Ms Marriner directly via email to admin@mindpivot.com.au or in your next therapy session.

You are welcome to view and follow Ms Marriner's business Facebook or Instagram Pages listed as Mind Pivot Psychology and Wellbeing Services, on which she shares blog posts, psychology information and news, and professional and practice updates. However, Ms Marriner will not follow you back for the reasons outlined above, and she holds no expectation that you as a client must follow her professional pages. You are encouraged to use your own discretion in choosing whether to do so. If you would like to discuss any of the content on Mind Pivot Psychology and Wellbeing Services’ social media platforms, you are welcome to bring it along to your next therapy session.

Interacting
If you are a client and would like to contact Ms Marriner in between sessions, please do so via email (admin@mindpivot.com.au) or phone (0468 419 702). Please do not use social networking sites to contact Ms Marriner, as these sites are not secure, and she may not read these messages in a timely fashion. Also, engaging with Ms Marriner in this way could compromise your confidentiality. It may also create the possibility that these exchanges become a part of your legal medical record and will need to be documented and archived in your chart. Ms Marriner will not read or respond to communication from clients on social media sites.

If you happen to come across Ms Marriner on personal networking and group forums on social media, please note that Ms Marriner will not interact directly with you on these forums and ask that you do not interact with her on these forums. All contact with Ms Marriner should occur via email, phone and in session.
Use of Search Engines
Ms Marriner and any of her employees will not use search engines or social media platforms to search for present, future or prospective clients. This is an invasion of your privacy and knowledge of your online activities can blur the boundaries of the therapeutic relationship.
Business Review Sites
The Australian Psychological Association's Ethics Code states that it is unethical for psychologists to solicit testimonials from therapy clients. If you happen to find Ms Marriner's practice or website on review sites, please note that these listings are not instigated from Ms Marriner and are developed by unrelated third parties. They are NOT a request for a testimonial, rating or endorsement from Ms Marriner. Of course, you have the right to express yourself on these sites if you wish, however, due to confidentiality, Ms Marriner will be unable to respond to any review on any of these sites, whether positive or negative. We urge you to take your own privacy as seriously as we take our commitment of confidentiality to you. Please note that google business
accounts have an inbuilt review function of which Ms Marriner is unable to remove. Please do not view this function as a request for a testimonial, and we recommend you do not provide any reviews or testimonials, both positive and negative, in order to protect your confidentiality.
Any feedback you wish to provide can be provided to us at admin@mindpivot.com.au.
